Solar is not free. It pays for itself.
The government pays part of the cost as a subsidy. You pay the rest to the vendor, and lower bills pay you back over the next few years.
| System | Central subsidy | Suits a monthly bill of |
|---|---|---|
| 1 kW | ₹30,000 | under ₹1,000 |
| 2 kW | ₹60,000 | ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 |
| 3 kW or more | ₹78,000 (maximum) | ₹2,000 and above |
You can get the subsidy if
- You own the house and the electricity connection is in your or your family's name
- The roof gets sun without much shade, about 100 sq ft for every kW
- A vendor registered for your electricity board does the installation
- A net meter is installed afterwards, which the vendor arranges
Beware of fake subsidy calls
Fraud calls using the PM Surya Ghar name are common. Remember these four things:
- The subsidy goes from the government straight to your bank account after inspection. Nobody can approve or speed it up for a fee.
- Never share an OTP, Aadhaar OTP or bank PIN on a call or WhatsApp.
- Pay your vendor in stages, never 100% upfront.
- You can check any vendor yourself on the official portal.
Our promise: Unha will never ask you for money, an OTP or bank details.
A Pune team you can visit
Unha is run by Webcof, a Pune digital company founded by Vinay Kadam in 2016. We started Unha so Pune homeowners can see honest numbers before they talk to anyone selling solar.

How we make money
Vendors pay us a fixed fee when we introduce a homeowner. You never pay us.
Because we don't sell panels, we have no reason to push a bigger system or a particular brand. If solar doesn't suit your home, we will tell you.
How we check vendors
- Registered on the national rooftop solar portal
- GST registered, with a real office
- Real installations we have seen
- Ratings from homeowners we introduced, and we drop low-rated vendors
Common questions
Is rooftop solar free under the scheme?
No. The government pays a subsidy of up to ₹78,000 and you pay the rest of the system cost to the vendor. Most Pune homes recover that amount from lower bills in about 3 to 5 years.
Is Unha a government website or a vendor?
Neither. Unha is an independent advisory service run by Webcof, a Pune company. We do not sell or install solar. We help you understand your numbers and introduce you to checked vendors. You can apply for the subsidy yourself, free, at pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
Do I pay anything to Unha?
No, never. Vendors pay us for the introduction. You pay the vendor only for your solar system. If anyone asks you to pay Unha, it is not us.
Who will call me after I submit?
Our own team, on WhatsApp or a call, usually within 10 minutes (9 am to 8 pm, Monday to Saturday). Only after you agree do we introduce 1 checked vendor for a free roof visit. Your number goes to at most 2 vendors, ever.
How much subsidy can I get?
Under PM Surya Ghar the central subsidy is ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW. That makes ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW or more.
How long does the subsidy take?
Usually about 2 to 3 months from application to money in your bank. It is paid directly into your bank account after the electricity board inspects the system and installs the net meter.
I live in a society flat. Can I get solar?
Yes, if the society approves use of the common roof. Choose "Flat in a society" in the form and we will explain the options for your building.
Until when is the subsidy available?
The scheme is currently scheduled to run until 31 March 2027. The government may change or extend it, so check the official portal for the latest status.
